It’s the Little Things…

Count your blessings; name them one by one.

Count your many blessings see what God has done.

Count Your Blessings – A Hymn –

Lyrics by Johnson Oatman, Jr.    Music by Edwin O. Excell

When I count my blessings I count the big ones: family, friends (old and new), good health, work that I love—the list grows longer each day. What’s even more amazing to me are the little things that happen in the tiny moments of life.

Moments Not to be Missed

I love the soft, soothing sound of wind chimes when a gentle breeze passes by. At dawn and dusk I am in awe of the way God paints the sky. Morning coffee? When the cream produces that perfect caramel color, I know it will tickle my taste buds. I am overjoyed at the smile of a child—the way they take a grown-up’s hand, and am amused when they reach the age when it’s no longer cool. How about a bird’s song or a note from a friend via snail-mail? And then there’s something as basic as water, good water that’s clean and hot or cold depending on my need. So many tiny, yet huge blessings flood our lives!

Stop Look & Listen

If the little things have fallen off your radar, you might take some time to stop, look and listen. There’s wonder in our world—delight that is waiting to be discovered and appreciated. With Christmas upon us, there’s no better time than now to take stock in our bountiful blessings—BIG and small. It is the tried and true antidote for the hectic whirl of the season. So, catch the attitude of gratitude! We can start by thanking God who gave us the greatest gift of all—Jesus!

For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son,

that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 3:16  NKJV
