Amazing Grace – God’s Got This Part 2

That Beautiful Hymn

Amazing Grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me

I once was lost, but now I’m found, was blind, but now I see

What is Grace?

The NIV Bible defines it as God’s unmerited favor toward mankind—His merciful power to do for us, in us and through us what we could never do on our own. Notice that word unmerited. Webster’s Dictionary says “not adequately earned or deserved.”

The only requirement for receiving God’s grace is to believe in His Son, Jesus—that He died on that cross so long ago and was raised again to live with His Father in Heaven. Jesus died, so that we might have an abundant life as part of God’s family. If you invite Him to come into your life you will receive the precious and free gift of grace. All you have to do is ask.

A True Story

I received a bushel basket of grace as a result of being downsized out of a job six months ago. News (make that gossip) travels fast in academic circles, and soon, I was besieged by a sea of teachers and staff asking me in that wringing-your-hands tone of voice, “What are you going to DO?” I had no idea.

I have to admit I spent that first weekend fearful and feeling sorry for myself—crying and moping and crying some more, but then, God reminded me of all the times in my life when I had not known what the future would be. I had survived them all, and in a moment of total surrender, I experienced peace as it triumphed over fear.

Suddenly, I knew God’s plan (whatever it would turn out to be) would be the best one, and if He had seen fit to let this job loss happen, surely He had something even better coming my way. So, I trusted Him and waited—actively—meaning I did my part, praying, applying for jobs and interviewing. Within a couple of months I had not one, but two positions secured. Being of retirement age, I decided that one part-time job would be quite enough.

GOD IS SO GOOD!

My future employers appreciated my outgoing personality in the interview, so they decided to create a job that was tailor-made for me! And so, a few days a week you can find me walking, talking, listening, smiling, laughing and helping an endless stream of happy customers as they enjoy a delightful shopping experience at Detwiler’s Farm Market in Palmetto, Florida. Here’s the link to this unique store:  https://www.detwilermarket.com/

Who Me – Doing This?

Never in my wildest imagination did I ever think I would be doing something like this, and yet it is hands down, the best (and most rewarding) job I’ve ever had in my life! I just show up, be myself and get paid for it! Thank you God!

It’s All About Him

So, you and I don’t deserve God’s grace; and yet He gives it to us, because His love for us is limitless. He wants for us to see that life, as we know it here on earth and as it will someday be with Him in “the heavenly places,” has always been, is now, and will always be about Him—all about Him! The Bible says,

“We love because He first loved us.” 1 John 4:19

God set love into motion because He is who He is—our gracious Creator and unconditionally loving Father, the one and only Almighty One! Like Him, God’s grace has no beginning or end. It is the same yesterday, today and forever. What a magnificent gift and, oh, did I mention, simply amazing!

  1. Hi Kay. I’m finally getting a divorce from my husband of 16 years . He has had 8 affairs that I know of. I forgive him and still love him but I couldn’t take the abuse.now we r going thru divorce and he is worried about his wallet. He is not a Christian but when talking to me claims that he is while still having an affair. I feel like God has left me and I know different but it’s painful and to hard to take rejection. PleSe pray for favor from Godnfor me in this divorce.

    1. Dear Phyllis, I know the sadness and despair that can accompany divorce. I also know that God has promised never to leave or forsake us. Rejection is terribly painful, but please always keep before you, always (in all ways), that you are God’s child. Like the Good Father that God is, He will comfort you in this and every season. And in His time He will deliver you from this storm. Please KNOW that my heart and prayers are with you, and that you are NOT alone.

  2. This is something I needed to hear/read right now. Im in the midst of a life size trial/storm and feeling lost a lot of the time. God is great ALWAYS and my hope needs to be focused on him and not have a pity party that reduces my faith in His plan for my life.

  3. Your story was encouraging. But I’m still in the middle of endless disappointments that never seem to end! It’s been a string of 17 years minimum! I’ve cried out to God so many times! I’ve cried out to different ministries on line with prayer request but nothing seems to change! I can’t take anymore disappointments! I’m trying to believe that He is allowing this for a reason but I still cant understand how allowing all this will ever help me me grow in my faith! If anything, it is diminishing my faith completely. Please pray for me or send me words of encouragement. Thank you.
