Yes & Amen

There are several people in my life who are asleep. My hand is on their shoulders giving them a little shake, but they slumber on. To them I want to shout…WAKE UP!

Ditch Digging…

If you run away from God, dig your way into a deep dark ditch, then can’t figure out how or why you got there, don’t blame Him. The only thing He did was let you go. He never let go of you.

“Oh, right,” you say with a sideways sneer, “Like you know.”

As matter of fact, I do. I had me a big ol’ shovel out there on Runaway Road. Put pits all across the country. Filled ‘em with water, too. And guess what? I had myself a mighty muddy mess of a life! Finally, I stopped long enough to look around. And when I did, I realized that God was absent from my life not because he was mad at me as I had feared, but because I was too stubborn to seek and find Him. All that changed in the blink of an eye when I met Jesus.

Running?

Are you running from God? If so, I want you to know that God hasn’t given up on you. No matter what you may think or feel. You don’t have to get all cleaned up before you come to Him either. He will meet you right where you are.

It’s no accident that He’s got this blog in front of you at this particular time in your life. If you’re trying to decide whether to click off of it, please don’t make a decision until you’ve read a little further. Here’s a Bible verse that’s full of hope.

If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins

and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

1 John 1:9

That Word

Oh, I know, it’s got that word sin in it. Some of you may be confused or scared or even offended by it. You may think it’s too judgmental for these modern times. After all, doesn’t our world say that anything goes? Anything goes? Really? Just so you know, that’s a lie from the pit of hell. I know because I pitched my tent smack dab in the middle of that camp for years. I had to learn the hard way that anything didn’t go then, and it doesn’t go now.

So, let’s look at that word sin. We all blow it from time to time—in big and small ways. Agreed? So, we make mistakes. Well, we are, after all, human, and therefore prone to fall short of God’s perfect standard. No need to feel bad about yourself for that. So far, there’s only been one person who’s gotten out of this life with a perfect score.

The Guy to Know

Now, what if you could tell someone about all the stuff you’d done wrong without fear of retribution? What if this person loved you so much that if you asked Him He not only could, but would forgive you?

And what if when you told Him all your junk, He would make everything right—make you right. And not only all that, what if He would give you a brand new life? This guy I know is in the business of restoring lives. He doesn’t play favorites, so if He redeemed mine, He will redeem yours.

Glory hallelujah, that someone is Jesus. All those what ifs can come true. Through Jesus, you can be right with God, and that will make you a righteous person—not because of who you are, but because of who God is! Yes, there might be consequences for your actions down the line, but God promises to be with us in every circumstance—good and bad. Isn’t that a win-win situation?

The Real Deal

I’ve learned (again, the hard way) that God is faithful. He is also trustworthy. Take it from one who’s been up, down, around and through this running-from-God stuff. It took me over 30 years of stumbling at every turn to come to the realization that God is who He says He is, and He will do what He says He will do. And it’s ALL free for the asking!

You want truth? Well, here it is. Whether you believe it or not, God loves you. Jesus is not only God’s Son, he is the real deal Savior. And the Holy Spirit is waiting to make His home in your heart. Truth! Oh my goodness—hold on, I’ve gone to preachin’ now.

Yes and Amen!

For no matter how many promises God has made,

they are “YES” in Christ.

And so through Him the “AMEN” is spoken by us to the glory of God.

2 Corinthians 1:20

Yes & Amen

  1. Beautiful post my Kay Harper! We think we are running the show but the sooner we realize we are part of Gods plan the better off we are. When we are stiff necked we try to run the show and it never works.
